Who is Carl Clopton?
A 29-year veteran in the technology industry, Carl Clopton began his career in 1988 with the prestigious security consulting & engineering firm, Kroll Schiff & Associates (acquired by Kroll), known worldwide for exemplary service. His 14-year tenure with Kroll saw him managing, consulting and engineering on hundreds of security projects throughout the United States including the Merrill Lynch World Headquarters at the World Financial Center in Manhattan, eight (8) United States Federal Courthouses, multiple Data Centers and over 100 construction projects for the Big 4 accounting firm, KPMG.
As a Kroll Consultant and a National Account Manager from 1998 through 2002, Carl managed the KPMG account on a full-time basis acting on behalf of his client, Charles Steadman (Executive Director of Security), as a Project Manager on the KPMG Corporate Real Estate Team; working closely with key KPMG Partners, managing a Kroll engineering team and securing the vast majority of the KPMG real estate in the United States. This was a high profile position as KPMG completely outsourced its physical security planning and implementation to Kroll, managed by Carl Clopton.
>>> During this time Carl performed project management, site surveys, architectural security designs, consulting, engineering, RFP & specifications, construction bid document preparation, bid awards, and final acceptance testing. Throughout this experience Carl continually honed his skills at bidder pre-qualification, bid review, and negotiations of service providers’ contracts. This entailed an extensive vetting process of interviewing and recommending service providers to KPMG, ensuring the best quality work from the service providers, and managing many complex construction processes for KPMG.
Carl took over the KPMG account in 1998 and developed it into one of the most profitable and the longest lasting ongoing client relationship Kroll Schiff & Associates ever had.
In 2002, Carl left Kroll to become an Entrepreneur following in the footsteps of his long time friend and employer Gary Schiff, whom he had always admired. He began this journey by starting a marketing company serving the tech and entertainment industries, but would also become an inventor and own other businesses as well.
Carl Clopton Consulting was born in 2004 to serve the corporate client’s security consulting needs. Large enterprise level corporate clients pursued Carl with lucrative offers to manage multi-million dollar security projects; but in 2005 he decided instead to broaden his own personal interests by helping companies procure lease space and services from Data Centers, Telecom Carriers and Internet Service Providers.
